Heartland Conducting Workshop

Welcome to the Heartland Conducting Workshop, an intensive five-day experience designed to give conductors meaningful podium time with masterworks of the orchestral repertoire that are not often encountered in conducting workshops. Our goal is to provide a substantive musical experience in which participants can develop their conducting and rehearsal skills while working with professional musicians and receiving individualized feedback. Participants will have 135 minutes of podium time throughout the workshop, with opportunities to capture high-quality conducting footage, including uninterrupted rehearsal footage when desired.

Each year, a featured clinician with significant professional orchestral experience will join us to share practical knowledge, insights, and strategies for conducting this repertoire and working effectively with professional ensembles. Limited to just 12 participants, the workshop is intentionally designed to maximize individual opportunities, encourage meaningful musical collaboration, and foster lasting relationships and professional connections among colleagues. If you are interested in participating in the 2027 Heartland Conducting Workshop, please submit your application by January 15, 2027 using the Google Form below.
